Amitesh Verma
Amitesh Verma is a senior at Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Throughout his years in high school, he noticed the lack of a student-led platform
to foster the safety of the community amid teenage health threats including the e-
cigarette epidemic. As a result, Amitesh founded Indian Hill’s first Students Against
Destructive Decisions chapter at the beginning of his junior year. Through his time
in SADD, Amitesh and his chapter have helped organize traffic safety awareness
events at basketball games in addition to receiving a mini-grant from the
Prevention First organization. This grant allowed his chapter to hold an E-
Cigarette Prevention Youth Summit at Indian Hill Middle School — the earlier
students are educated about the dangers of “vaping,” the less likely they are to
become a victim of it in high school. Outside of SADD, Amitesh cherishes music-
making, serving as the Drum Major of Indian Hill’s marching band. Additionally, he
enjoys jamming and publishing albums with his student-led jazz quartet named
“The Zender Senders.” Having been involved with teenage health on the
community level, he looks forward to the SLC as a means to foster change on the
national level. He is excited about connecting and working with like-minded
individuals across the country to uphold the safety and wellness of the community.
