Stress is something everyone deals with. It can occur at school, at work, or even at home. A little stress can sometimes push us to get things done… but too much stress is not healthy. It can make us feel tired, upset, or even sick. Learning how to manage stress can help us feel calm, balanced, and happier in everyday life.

Just like me, this upcoming school year YOUR phones are being taken away. Though this might not be the case for everyone, around 23 states have banned cell phone use in schools, calling it the “bell-to-bell” ban. At my school, YONDR pouches will lock our phones at the beginning of the school day before we enter, and they’ll only be opened at the last bell when we leave. We should care about our mental health every day—but especially on October 10, World Mental Health Day. The World Health Organization introduced this day to raise awareness about mental health issues affecting people around the world, and to support those who are struggling.

Each October, across the country, communities recognize National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW). The NTDSW is a week dedicated to raising awareness about the risks young drivers, in particular, face every day on the road. Year after year, motor vehicle crashes continue to remain as one of the leading causes of death among teenagers in the United States; The NTDSW tells how most of these tragedies are preventable. 

Communities across the country observe Pedestrian Safety Month each October—a time to pause and reflect on the simple fact that, no matter who we are or how we usually get around, we’re all pedestrians at some point during the day. If you walk to school, jog in your neighborhood, or simply walk between parking lots, pedestrian safety is something that touches us all.
