“My parents always told me that if I ever felt like I was in an unsafe place or if I felt uncomfortable I could always call them and they would come pick me up. My parents trusted me and  allowed me to hang out with people and go to places that were trustworthy. They also encouraged me to join clubs and stay active in school, that way I would keep busy and would be able to learn to have fun without participating in destructive decisions.”
