High school students overwhelmingly say their parents are or will be the biggest influence on how they drive, but the practices many teens say they are emulating represent some of the riskiest driving behaviors, according to the 2004 SADD/Liberty Mutual Teen Driving Study.
Adult driving habits, as observed by their teens, suggest that parents are modeling risky behaviors.
What to Do
- Click here to download the Parent Driving Quiz, Report Card, and Informational Handout and photocopy them for your students.
- Send home with students the Driving Quiz, Report Card, and the accompanying informational handout that highlights the critical importance of parents' setting the example they wish their children to follow.
- Students should use this quiz to test their parents and give parents a report card and the informational handout after the quiz is complete.
- Have students conduct the quiz more than once with their parents. Encourage students to follow up with their parents one or two weeks after giving them the informational handout. Have the results changed?
